Disney Life arrives in 2019! What is it?!

Here's the deal, Disney has been talking about their own streaming service for a couple of years, and we just can't wait another minute for it to be released. Unfortunately, those of us in the United States are going to have to wait a while longer. Thankfully, the projected late-2019 release is fast-approaching, but we're waiting on the edges of our seats.

The service promises to be much like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu, in that you'll be able to stream shows and movies from any device any time you'd like, except there's one big difference - you're only going to be able to watch Disney owned content on Disney Life. Now, that's not so bad, 'cause honestly, that's all we're looking for, right? Right. We cannot wait to see what's in store, whether there'll be new Disney-created content exclusive to the platform or not, what movies will be brought back out of the vault to be on the platform, and if there will be other features like music made available to watch.

As of right now, we're not exactly sure what's going to happen on the platform, but what we do know, we're going to outline for you below.

What is Disney Life?

As mentioned above, Disney Life is the new streaming service created by Disney, set to be released before the end of 2019 in the United States. The service is actually already available in the United Kingdom, and it seems to be going very well. According to reviews on YouTube and around the internet, there's much more than just classic Disney movies available on the UK version of the platform. Here's a review from UnofficialQuaffleCast with some sneak peeks at the content:

What will it cost me?

Again, we don't have all the details here, but from what we do know, Disney plans on making it much cheaper than you'd expect. According to reports, Disney has refuted claims that Disney Life will be more expensive than it's competitors Netflix and Amazon Prime. When you think about it, that actually makes a ton of sense. Disney owns all of this content. They're not relying on subscription sales to make up for the lost costs of contracts to the rights to stream the movies and shows. So, as we've heard, they plan on making the monthly rate substantially lower than the $12.99 you might be paying for Netflix. How awesome is that?

Is there going to be platform-exclusive content?

This is another big question that, thankfully, has already been answered. The answer is yes. There will, indeed, be movies and TV shows that are only released on the Disney Life app. From what we've seen, there are already plans (and filming in some cases) for a Star Wars show as well as a Marvel show! It's our understanding that Disney is planning to use Star Wars and Marvel to really beef up the hype around this app, so it's safe to expect that they're not going to shy away from making their own content for the show. Apparently, they also plan to release a bunch of unreleased behind-the-scenes and background content for a lot of the shows and movies as well. As we saw in the review video above, Disney has much more to offer than they've let us get our hands on over the years, so it's going to be really exciting to see what else they have in store.

What about the movies that are in the 'Vault'?

Here's where things get a little tricky. We're not sure. Although we've seen (and heard) some reports from years back that tell us the vault will effectively disappear when the app is released, we're not entirely certain what that will mean. Will they put movies on the app and take them off periodically? Will all of the old Disney content be available indefinitely? We don't know, but we sure hope that's the case! Imagine being able to watch Fantasia and The Lion King back-to-back on your phone for less than $12.99 a month! With Disney, dreams really do come true.

Well, that's what we've got for you today. We'll do our best to update you on this topic as more information becomes available. Top 10 Disney Sidekicks of All-Time!

Sidekicks are almost as important to our favorite Disney movies as the main characters are. Take Dory, for instance. She was so amazing in Nemo that she got her own movie! Genie warmed all of our hearts and practically stole the show - the list goes on. Actually, it goes on below! Check out our list of the Top 10 Disney Sidekicks of All-Time! Don't see one you'd put on the list? Let us know in the comments!

Baymax (Big Hero 6)

Okay, there are few characters as adorable as Baymax, and also, we want Baymax to hang out with us all day. He's the perfect sidekick/buddy for a friend in need, and that's exactly what Disney is all about.

Little John (Robinhood)

Unpopular opinion, Robinhood would be nowhere without Little John...okay that's a little harsh, but still, Little John gets him out of many-a-bind throughout the movie. On top of that, he's got some of the best dance moves we've ever seen from a bear!

Sebastian (Little Mermaid)

Thanks to Sebastian, we have some of the most notable songs in Disney history, including Under the Sea and Kiss the Girl. In addition, he may have a bit of an attitude, but at least he's always looking out for Ariel's best interests, right? He might not be Ariel's most fun pal, but he's certainly wise! Excellent sidekick material.

Rex (Toy Story)

Rex is just hilarious. Not only does he have a hilarious voice, and an awesome physical structure, he also seems to find himself in some precarious situations. Remember the "getaway plan" in Toy Story 2? He didn't want to use his head!

Pacha (Emperor's New Groove)

Few sidekicks on this list put up with more than Pacha does since Kuzco is such a whiner and ungrateful, but along their journey, he sure teaches many valuable lessons. He's also just about the nicest person you could ever ask for to be a friend, so it's pretty fitting he makes the list.

Baloo (Jungle Book)

I think we all learned lessons from Baloo, and whether you're a Jungle Book fan or not, you have to love The Bare Necessities! The perfect pal for Mowgli, Baloo just knows exactly what to do when the man-cub needs him. An excellent sidekick, that's for sure!

Dory (Finding Nemo)

Need we explain this one? She was such a good sidekick, she got her own movie. Enough said - we LOVE Dory.

Mushu (Mulan)

Eddie Murphy pretty much nailed it as Mushu. Also, Mulan was a pretty heavy movie. Lots of really deep themes, especially for kids, so it was great to have a hilarious companion for some comic relief. Mulan is arguably a Top 5 Disney movie from that era, so it's easy to place one of the best characters from the movie here in our list.

Timon & Pumbaa (Lion King)

Let's just get this out of the way, if you don't think the combination of Timon and Pumbaa is one of the best sidekick combos in Disney history, we're going to be offended. Okay, maybe that's a little extreme. But, still! They're funny, they teach Simba important lessons, and they can sing! What more could you want?!

Genie (Aladdin)

Without question, one of the greatest Disney characters ever. Nay, one of the greatest characters ever, period. The Genie encapsulates every incredible emotion we have inside of us, and Robin Williams could not have done a more wonderful job with this character. I still find myself quoting the Genie at random at least a couple of times a week, and it's because he's unforgettable and his worthiness as a sidekick is unrelenting. We love him. Can you tell?

What's Disney doing for this Special Day?
The first thing you've got to ask yourself is, what is Disney planning on doing already that'll make it easier to celebrate? Well, this year, there's limited information on whether or not they'll be doing any decorating or special events at the Parks. What we do know, though, is there are always great places to stop for a treat on your trip, and there's no doubt many of these places will have Valentine's-style treats available just for you!

Stop at the Main Street Confectionary or Goofy's Candy Company for your classic rice krispie treats with a Valentine's twist. If you're feeling really fancy, you can even make your way into Epcot and stop at the Germany pavilion for some chocolate dipped strawberries! Yummy!

What To Do While You're There
Fireworks are always a great place to start when it comes to activities on Valentine's Day. You can check out the amazing shows at the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios! If you're feeling extra ambitious, you can even make reservations for the exclusive fireworks viewing parties at either Park, which get you an amazing spot as well as other features like dessert or a cruise!

If you're not up for fireworks, you can also make your way over to the Epcot Festival of the Arts! Since that's the big event this time of year, you can expect that it might be rather busy, but it's so much fun and you won't want to miss it. Take in delicious food and drink, incredible art that will really knock you off your feet, and performances by some of the most talented people on Earth - Broadway stars!

What To Do About Dinner?
Looking for a special dinner experience on Valentine's day? Look no further than the Parks. While many of the restaurants require reservations and are quite expensive, if you're willing or able to budget for the cost, it really can be quite Magical! Take your Valentine to Be Our Guest restaurant for dinner (around $55 a plate) for a three-course delicious meal in the castle! Or, if you're feeling extra ambitious, you can make a reservation for two in an extremely intimate setting at Disney's Grand Floridian!
